Weather and roofs in Wisconsin
Wisconsin shares Minnesota’s two-season problem. Summer thunderstorms bring hail and damaging wind, and winters bring heavy snow, deep cold and the freeze-thaw cycles that create ice dams. Lake-country and river-valley homes add their own exposure to wind, and older homes often have attic ventilation that was never designed for modern insulation levels, which shows up as ice at the eaves and moisture in the attic.
The buildings we work on
Western Wisconsin is a short drive from the Twin Cities, and much of our Wisconsin work is there: farmhouses and outbuildings, small-town homes and storefronts, lake homes and newer subdivisions. Asphalt shingles dominate on homes; metal is common on agricultural buildings; and commercial properties lean toward low-slope membranes. Of the more than 70 roof replacements Aaron has led since 2024, more than 30 were in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Problems we document most in Wisconsin
Ice dams on story-and-a-half and older two-story homes, where warm attic air melts snow that refreezes at the eaves. Wind-lifted and creased shingles on homes with open exposure to lakes, ridges and farm fields. Aging, rusting or loosened steel on outbuildings. Gutters and downspouts overwhelmed by spring melt and summer downpours, which push water back under the roof edge and into fascia. We schedule replacements from spring through fall, and in winter we focus on documentation and temporary protection until the weather allows a proper tear-off.
How we work in Wisconsin
The process does not change at the state line. We walk the whole building, document it with photos and measurements, and write the quote from that record. If a storm is involved and you choose to file a claim, we document the damage and work with your adjuster at your request; we do not interpret policies or negotiate claims, and we never waive deductibles. Larger and multi-building projects are scheduled with travel and weather in mind.
